Description:Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) are a type of medication known as a progestogen. They work by reducing the number of future ovaries, and increasing the number of sperm in the uterus, so that the body will not have to worry about getting pregnant again. The FDA approved OTC contraceptive Oligo (Provera) in 1992.
Prescription strength:Provera 150mg/5ml
Directions for use:Take one dose orally. The tablets should be broken in half. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.
Side effects:Mild to moderate side effects of the medication are seen in 3% to 8% of women.Common side effects:Headaches, nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, diarrhea, dizziness, abdominal pain, back pain, and headache. Breast tenderness and swelling.
Storage:Store below 30°C.
Warnings:Oligo should not be used in pregnancy or if the woman does not become pregnant. Do not use during the first trimester if the woman is not trying to get pregnant. The tablets should not be given to the infant at any time. Do not use in the absence of breast milk. If the patient does not get breast milk, the medication may harm the nursing baby. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are pregnant. If symptoms of an allergic reaction to this drug are experienced, stop using the medication and contact your doctor.
